I think I am one of the only people I know who has never read anything by Louisa. I have the book Little Women but have never read it. I am a disgrace to all things feminine. Though, I feel I am absolved of all unfeminine charges because I AM a Jane Austen fan! Let me know what you read next, and please let it be the Federalist Papers!zzzzz...what was I saying?

I found thebook at the Florence Library, and found it, well, enlightening. Beyond that, I did like how the bookwas organized - very readable. I also checked out another book by Nevada Barr - "Bittersweet" a novel set in the pioneer west about a lesbian woman and her lovers. Very touching portrayal of how she eventually takes on the persona of a man. No explicit sex, just the storyof how two women live their lives. I'm not doing it justice with my words at all. I haven't read other books by Barr so I don;t know if this is a theme of hers. I maytry to find another of her books.

Wow--I think you might have found the only Nevada Barr book I haven't read. Now I must find it. Becky, you just made me feel oodles better about JA, because Little Women is the quintessential chick book. And don't tempt me with the Federalist Papers, because I remember rather liking them (or would that be "it", since they were compiled into one nice volume?) years ago, and it would certainly be more interesting than JA...
